This document aligns with urgent calls to rethink the financial architecture from an environmental sustainability perspective. The climate and ecological crises exacerbate existing inequalities, disproportionately affecting women—especially those living in poverty, rural women, Indigenous women, and Afro-descendant women—who continue to face structural inequalities and multiple forms of discrimination, despite regional efforts to leave no one behind within the framework of the 2030 Agenda.

In this context, transformative fiscal policy must not only redistribute resources, but also reorient tax and budgetary systems toward a just transition, a care society, and environmental protection. Integrating environmental justice with economic and gender justice involves, among other elements, investing in comprehensive and sustainable care systems and policies, ensuring climate financing with a gender and care focus, and strengthening state capacities to implement public policies that place life and ecosystems at the center of development.

This document presents the care society agenda as a strategic investment for gender equality and sustainable development. It also brings together analytical and forward-looking contributions from diverse feminist voices and organized civil society across Latin America and the Caribbean. It highlights different perspectives and voices from civil society organizations and authors in the region, as well as evidence and an intersectional approach that contribute to strengthening the gender equality agenda.
