Impacts and results. “Women, Local Economy and Territories Program” (MELYT) – Phase II 2023–2026
The Impacts and Results infographic of the Women, Local Economy and Territories (MELYT) program – Phase II (2023–2026), implemented by UN Women, presents the main advances of a multiscalar strategy that promotes the economic empowerment of women in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. Through financial inclusion, business development, inclusive value chains, care systems, and the leadership of women’s networks, MELYT has helped improve thousands of women’s access to finance, training, markets, and safer, more co-responsible environments.
The results include the strengthening of women-led MSMEs, the creation and consolidation of savings and credit groups, the promotion of technology training platforms and centers, progress in national care policies, and the positioning of women’s networks as key actors in regional policy advocacy. Together, these achievements demonstrate how the MELYT model translates a gender-responsive approach into concrete impacts for inclusive and sustainable territorial development.
The MELYT program, funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), promotes public policies, partnerships, and inclusive territorial models that advance women’s economic autonomy by strengthening their productive capacities, access to assets, and participation in local economies.
