Armed Gang Violence and Displacement in Haiti: Understanding the Gender-Differentiated Impacts of the Humanitarian Crisis
Effective humanitarian response requires gender-responsive programming across all sectors, addressing both the distinct needs and capacities of women, girls, men, and boys, while recognizing that gender inequality is both a pre-existing vulnerability amplified by crisis and a barrier to effective humanitarian assistance. This Rapid Gender Analysis examines the gender-differentiated im-pacts of armed gang violence and displacement in Haiti, providing evidence-based recommendations to strength-en humanitarian response. It was conducted by UN Women Haiti between 12 September and 15 October 2025, with field research taking place over in six departments (West, Centre, Artibonite, South, North, North-East) representing 78.76% of Haiti's population. The analysis employed a participatory triangulation methodology combining qualitative research, quantitative surveys, and field observation following RGA principles and SPHERE humanitarian standards (SPHERE, 2018).
