During Gender Day at COP30: UN Women launches pioneering tool to measure gender integration in climate policy

Background  

UN-Women is hosting a press conference at COP30 on Thursday 20 November at 12-12.30pm. This day is the second of two thematic gender days, and this press conference is in advance of UN-Women’s official side event. 

What:  

At COP 30 in Belém, UN Women and the Kaschak Institute are launching the Gender Equality and Climate Policy Scorecard, a new global tool that assesses how far countries are integrating gender equality into their climate policies. The initiative offers the first international framework to evaluate the integration of gender equality into climate action, including Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the plans that guide each country’s action to deliver on the Paris Agreement.

The purpose of the press conference is to brief the media about UN-Women’s new Gender Equality and Climate Policy Scorecard, and to provide an assessment of how far gender equality has advanced within the UNFCCC and global climate action more broadly.
