Women Leaders Summit

Mexico - Luiza Carvalho, UN Women Regional Director for the Americas and the Caribbean, was a key speaker during the recent Women Leaders Summit organized by the Fundación Colosio, which highlighted the role of women in the transformation of Mexico. The event was chaired by Senators Diva Gastelum and Angelica de la Peña (among others), and the President of the National Institute of Women in Mexico, Lorena Cruz. The main goal of the summit was to continue promoting the political participation of women and to contribute to reach the gender parity goal. During the event, Ana Güezmes, UN Women Representative in Mexico, noted that "in the new millennium we cannot understand democracy without the full participation of women."
