The objective of the Action Model is to ensure that UN Women, as an expert agency on gender equality and women's empowerment, offers appropriate programmatic options for the purpose of generating transformative changes for women and girls in the region, within the framework of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Action Model is the result of an effort to consolidate and analyze the knowledge generated by UN Women in the region since its creation in 2010. In this sense, and taking into account the experience and historical positioning of UN Women in Latin America and In the Caribbean, these are the four thematic areas that have developed their Action Model:

  • Political participation of women and governance systems
  • Economic empowerment of women
  • Violence against women and girls
