UN Women strongly condemns the Taliban’s latest discriminatory decision to ban Afghan women from working with the United Nations in Afghanistan. We stand in full solidarity with our colleagues, and all women who everyday put their lives at risk to serve their country and we salute their dedication, professionalism, and bravery. We re-assert their inalienable, fundamental human rights as enshrined in the UN Charter. We will not replace our female workforce with men.

El 67º período de sesiones de la Comisión de la Condición Jurídica y Social de la Mujer (CSW67), la mayor reunión anual de las Naciones Unidas dedicada a la igualdad de género y al empoderamiento de las mujeres, tendrá lugar del 6 al 17 de marzo de este año bajo el tema: “Innovación y cambio tecnológico, educación en la era digital para lograr la igualdad de género y el empoderamiento de todas las mujeres y niñas”.

En la era digital, la explosión tecnológica ha ido de la mano de un cambio igual de revolucionario en nuestra forma de pensar y hablar sobre la tecnología. Las nuevas herramientas digitales dan lugar a palabras y expresiones novedosas, así como a marcos conceptuales distintos para entender cómo influyen estas herramientas en la sociedad y cómo interactúan con ella. Nos enfrentamos a formas de crueldad inéditas y exacerbadas, lo que ha hecho que se popularicen términos como desinformación o "doxing". También se han acuñado conceptos como los derechos digitales y la gobernanza de los datos, surgidos del empeño de que la tecnología actual esté en consonancia con nuestra visión de un futuro mejor.

Care is essential for all people in their daily lives. Depending on factors such as age, health condition, physical condition, or circumstances, people demand a different level of care and are more or less able to provide it to others. Thus, a person requires care to become autonomous during childhood, then probably in adulthood, he/she will have to take care of the new generations, and perhaps in old age, he/she will require care again.

In the year that has passed since the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, we have seen daily and continuous deterioration in the situation of Afghan women and girls. This has spanned every aspect of their human rights, from living standards to social and political status.
