UN Women’s regional office for the Americas and the Caribbean, the United Nations’ entity for gender equality and the empowerment of women in the region, and NBCUniversal International Networks and Direct-to-Consumer Latin America (NBCUIN & DTC Latin America), will co-produce short-form content promoting female empowerment and equality, supporting women to live up to their full potential. The goal of this first-ever partnership is to blend UN Women’s expertise as a champion for women across Latin America with the production expertise and broadcast reach of NBCUIN & DTC Latin America, whose recent original productions – including Escuela Imparables, Ojos de Mujer, Born to Fashion and Beleza GG, among others – were all commissioned to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.

The creative teams of both entities will jointly produce a series of six short-form videos focusing on issues affecting women, including gender equality, women’s empowerment, equity and diversity. This content will then be broadcast from Spring 2022 on NBCUIN & DTC Latin America’s pay-TV networks portfolio of Universal TV, Telemundo Internacional, STUDIO Universal, SYFY and E! Entertainment, as well as being made available on E! On-line Latino, reaching millions of households through NBCUIN & DTC Latin America’s platforms across the region.

“For UN Women, this agreement is very important, because it means that the media are interested in participating in our mission, but also because it will allow us to reach millions of homes in Latin America with messages aimed at raising awareness and generating a conversation about the things that are most important to us, affect women, and their contribution to overcoming the most urgent problems of our time,” said María Noel Vaeza, UN Women Regional Director for the Americas and the Caribbean.

“At NBCUniversal, we are committed to promoting a culture of inclusion, equity, awareness and respect, including to our audiences in Latin America,” said Gus O’Brien, Managing Director of NBCUniversal International Networks and Direct-to-Consumer Latin America. “By partnering with UN Women, we will amplify the organization’s important messages, including fostering dialogue on a variety of platforms.”
